AMC 8: dates, deadlines and fees 2026–27

AMC 8 · Mathematical Association of America (MAA)

A 40-minute math competition from the MAA for students in grade 8 and below, given at schools during one week in January. Schools — not individual students — register as competition sites; a student may take it once a year.

Who takes it

Students in grade 8 or below and 15.5 years old or younger on the competition day, enrolled full time at a school in the U.S. or Canada (international and exchange students at those schools included).

Next date

Jan 21, 2027 – Jan 27, 2027 (AMC 8 2027)

Fee

Paid by the school: competition-manager registration $55 early / $75 regular / $115 late, plus $25 per bundle of 10 student licenses. Schools may charge students their own fee.

Outside the U.S.

Outside the U.S. and Canada, students register through the MAA International Group Leader for their country (Korea, China, Vietnam, Mexico and many others have one); dates and fees abroad are set by those partners.

• Scores are finalized in early March 2027.
