Questions
Is the USAnaru™ API free?
Yes. No key or sign-up is needed. Each IP address can make 60 requests per hour and 500 per day. Use is free for personal, research, education, news and other non-commercial purposes, and for AI assistants that answer with a link. Every use requires attribution: show “USAnaru™” with a link to the page the data came from.
Where do the data come from?
The school directory comes from the Private School Universe Survey (PSS) of the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics. F-1 certification comes from the SEVP certified school list published by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Study in the States). Every tag and fact in a response names its source, source URL and the date it was last checked.
What does “candidate” mean?
A candidate school was classified from public data (for example, as a boarding school) but USAnaru™ has not yet checked it with the school. Verified schools have been checked. Confirm details with the school before relying on them.
Can I use the data in a commercial product?
Not without a written agreement. Using the data in or for a business’s product, service, app, website, dataset or AI model, or redistributing it in bulk, needs our permission first. Contact us. Quoting a school page with a link in an article or an AI answer is free.
What happens when I reach the limit?
The API answers with HTTP 429 and tells you the limit and when it resets. Hourly limits reset at the top of each hour and daily limits at 00:00 UTC. For the whole list at once, use the bulk CSV or JSON file.
